Description

Be Afraid…

Make a retro-inspired horror movie in October!
‘Be Afraid’ is a half term movie making camp for TASIS students only, for Grades 5-8.
Young movie makers will be drawing inspiration from Stranger Things, as well as a revived ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ to produce their own retro-themed horror movie.
With guidance from our team of filmmaking workshop leaders, crew members will be busy in all the crew roles behind the camera, as well as starring onscreen too. They will devise their own original storylines, before shooting their movie. The workshop also includes a screenwriting workshop session and production design session to perfect their retro details.
At the end, they will share their work in a special presentation to parents and family members. Everyone receives a copy of the movie to enjoy at home and add to their portfolios.

Group Sizes & Instruction:

Qualified Staff

The camps are led by our specialist team of filmmaking workshop leaders. Every Sparks team member takes part in specific training for programme delivery and child safeguarding. Everyone has an enhanced DBS check and follows our Ofsted approved practices and policies.

Within the team there is a mix of professional filmmaking and arts education backgrounds. We all enjoy working with young people and love to inspire the next generation.

Small Group Sizes

The young filmmakers work in small groups (max 16 children of peer ages).

Our small group sizes mean that we are able to get to know each of the young filmmakers well. Every child receives personalised attention and support from a dedicated instructor.

High Staff Ratios

Our staff ratios are typically at least 1:8, in practice this is often higher, especially with younger filmmakers.

The children are well supervised throughout the summer camps, which helps us to bring out their potential and learning, as well as bring added peace of mind for child safeguarding.
