Sparks is the UK’s leading provider of film and media classes for children and teenagers. Sparks film schools offer classes and holiday camps in filmmaking for ages 5-18.

2. How many locations SPARKS school have?

We have 15 film schools in the UK, with plans to launch more in 2021.

3. What kind of courses SPARKS offer?

Sparks offers practical filmmaking courses for ages 5-18. Young filmmakers enrolled in our courses learn all about the different aspects of filmmaking. These include screenwriting, directing, camera operation and photography, acting for camera, video editing, production design, production crew, craft disciplines, sound and lighting.

We’ll shortly be introducing animation courses too.

4. Who can attend your courses?

Our filmmaking courses are open to children and teenagers, ages 5-18. No prior experience is necessary, we welcome children of all abilities.

Our courses are all mainstream inclusive. We’re happy to welcome children with additional needs, but we ask that you contact us to advise of accessibility strategies or needs, so that we can support as best as possible.

5. How much are these courses?

Our fees vary depending on the course and location, but typically range between £9-£16 per hour.

We can arrange payment of fees in instalments. We also accept childcare vouchers.

6. Do you have online courses available?

Yes, we offer online courses throughout the year and regularly update our online courses offer.

7. What would my child learn through these courses?

Children taking part in our courses learn a wide variety of skills. They learn about every aspect of film production and develop lots of creative and technical skills through practical, hands on activities.

They also develop transferable skills in digital literacy and project-based learning, as well as building up soft skills including team work, communication and problem solving.

8. When is the next course available?

Our weekly filmmaking classes run during term time throughout the year. We welcome new joiners at any time.

We also offer movie making holiday camps in most school holidays.

9. Do you offer a free trial?

Yes, we offer free trial classes, where you can take part before deciding whether to commit to a whole term.

If we don’t have availability for trials, we also offer a money-back guarantee period if you decide it isn’t for you.

10. Do you offer franchise opportunities?

Yes, we have franchise opportunities available in the UK. We support motivated, creative people who are passionate about film to teach Sparks classes locally.
