About Sparks Walthamstow
Sparks Walthamstow was established in 2019 and welcomes young film makers from all over East London.
Film makers aged 7-14 come to fun-filled film making classes and holiday camps, where we help them to work on their own unique film productions.
We meet every Saturday at Walthamstow School for Girls, where each term young film makers collaborate on movie making projects and develop their skills. During half terms, children and teenagers join us to experience the fun of the Sparks film set and to unlock their creativity.
Group sizes are small (max. 12) for all our workshops, with high staff ratios to provide a high quality experience. All Sparks instructors are trained and DBS-checked.
Sparks Walthamstow is led by Louisa Cunningham…
“Filmmakers at Sparks Walthamstow will develop their visual literacy, creative production skills and imaginations. I am really looking forward to providing a dynamic environment for creative filmmakers to collaborate with others, where they can make new friends and have fun too.
I’ve been a specialist media teacher for over 20 years. I’m also mum to a young film maker myself. Since attending Sparks film classes for a number of years, I wanted to introduce the opportunity to our local community in Walthamstow.
I know from my own experience how rewarding these classes are for children and teenagers. The activities support confidence growth, creativity and a wealth of different skills in film and media. These skills are going to be incredibly valuable to the next generation and I want to make sure that children and young people from Walthamstow have the opportunity to learn and to thrive in our media-rich world.”
