Beyond Tomorrow:

February Half Term Camp

Make Your Own Futuristic Movie in February Half Term

Action-Packed Half Term Camp for Ages 7-11 & 11-14

Take part in this February half term camp to make your own futuristic movie production and learn all about filmmaking.
Young movie makers produce their own movies full of fantastical adventures, all set lightyears into the future.
It’s an action-packed camp, full of fun, imagination and creativity. Young movie makers develop their filmmaking talents and skills both behind and in front of the camera. With guidance from our team of friendly and supportive Sparks instructors, the young filmmakers produce their own original and unique film production.

Please note: owing to the national lockdown, this camp is set to take place online.

Make own movie production

During the February half term camp, young filmmakers learn all about filmmaking as they produce their own unique, original film production. In this half term’s theme, filmmakers will be exploring visions of the future. They’ll explore special effects and art direction, as well as lots of filmmaking techniques to produce their movies. Everyone taking part takes away lots of new experiences and develop new skills. They express their ideas and devise their own stories and scripts. They direct, shoot and crew each of their scenes, working together as a team.

Creative Learning

All the activities are hands-on and practical. There are skill-building workshop activities and creative exercises, as well as working to produce their film. There is plenty of opportunity for everyone to contribute towards the different production areas (e.g. scriptwriting, acting, and directing) and to grow their skills. The filmmakers work collaboratively in small film crews. We welcome along any level of experience. Our team ensure everyone is working at the right level.

Exceptional Learning Environments.

For all of our half term camps, we seek for everyone to feel happy, engaged and learning. We treat everyone as individuals, with their own strengths, talents and their own way of learning. We work with high staff ratios, small class sizes and qualified instructors. Everyone is carefully trained to make sure our half term camps offer exceptional learning experiences and that everyone has the chance to learn and develop their skills.

Qualified Instructors

Every Sparks team member takes part in specific training for programme delivery and child safeguarding. Everyone has an enhanced DBS check and follows our Ofsted approved practices and policies. Within the team there is a mix of professional filmmaking and arts/media education backgrounds. We all enjoy working with young people and love to inspire young imaginations.

What’s Involved? What Will I Need?

You can take part in from anywhere in the world, but please be aware that the programme is hosted live and in spoken English
Filmmakers will be part of a community group online. The smaller groups rotate/change so your child will be able to work with lots of new people the same age. All groups are supervised
Ideally, you’ll have two devices: one to access our virtual studio (such as a laptop or a tablet) and one to film with (such as a phone, or a camcorder/digital camera).

All tuition is live, with workshop activities led by our team of Sparks instructors (everyone is qualified and DBS-checked).

You’ll need a reliable internet connection, suitable for streaming video or making video calls

There are breaks within the sessions, as well as a lunch break each day. The sessions are broken up into practical task-focused workshops, with filmmakers working on specific projects.

This camp is scheduled to take place over Feburary half term 2021.

Camps will take place in our virtual studios (set up on Zoom).
