The Summer Shoots are fast approaching! Summer Shoots are fun, action-packed filmmaking summer camps for ages 5-18.
Each year children and teenagers join us for a weeklong filmmaking summer camp. During the week, the young filmmakers produce their own movie masterpiece.
As our team are busy preparing for this year, we’re reminiscing about all the fun we had last summer!
Take a look behind the scenes with the movie makers from 2018:
We Are The Champions – 2018’s Theme
Last year, the theme for the filmmaking summer camps was “We Are The Champions”. Young filmmakers taking part responded to the creative theme when making their movies. They explored a variety of narrative and cinematic techniques linked to the theme.
In small, peer-age groups, they took on all the different responsibilities to produce their films. The filmmakers devised their own original storylines and developed their characters. They directed sequences and they also learned how to film a range of different shots. They learned new skills in photography and camera operation. Alongside learning to work as part of a film crew, they also performed in all the onscreen roles. They presented us with some amazingly talented performances!
We’d like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who took part. It was such a fun summer and we were so impressed with all the filmmaking!
If you’d like to take a look, you can find all the incredible productions from last summer in the Sparks video gallery.
The Stuff of Dreams and Nightmares!
The theme this year is “The Stuff of Dreams and Nightmares”.
It’ll be a fun look into the 2019’s filmmakers’ wildest imaginations. We’ll be exploring lots of new techniques to help bring surreal visions to life. We’ll be venturing down rabbit holes both fantastical and fearsome!
We’re excited to help a new crop of young filmmakers produce an exciting collection of new film productions this summer. For an insight into some of the preparations and ideas behind the theme, take a look at our Instagram Stories and join in with the process.
